ENGLISH Education in Japan

Hello.

Today, I'll talk about English education in Japan.

I think English learning in Japan is bad absolutely.

Now, I'll show you some problems with educational situations, how to teach English in Japan.

There are four problems.

Shy

First, Japanese people are shy nations.

In my school, almost all students can not speak English actively.

On my school excursion in Hawaii, I tried to talk with Hawaiian in English.

I enjoyed it there. Someday, I want to go there again.

In Japan, all education is delayed than in other developed countries.

In my high school, we could not use iPad during classes. We can only use textbooks and pens.

In every class, we did dictation. Honestly, I felt bored.

I want to talk with my friend in English.

In my university, classes are good for me.

I make the presentation of SDGs in English with PowerPoint.

It has the reason why the high school classes are old-style.

I'll explain next.

In Japan, we have to study for entering to the university.

English is the tool for it.

I think it is serious problem.

In class, we focus on grammatical issues, we do not care about speaking English.

Native English speakers may think Japanese people use informal expressions and cheap pronunciation, "Janglish".

This is why Japanese people are not good at English.

ALT teachers assist us to study English but the Japanese teacher asked him/her the grammatical issues for entering the university.

Nobody asked him/her about their countries' cultures, foods, and lifestyles.

In Japanese high school, everyone thinks about entering the university.

English is the tool.

I am sad about this situation.

The Japanese government should change this style.

Last year, they changed the contents of the entering exam.

It was terrible. Let me check "共通テスト　英語問題"

I think high school is BAD!!! University is so-so.
